Statement from Board Chair Gary Hall on EDS Property

A pair of stories regarding the property that Episcopal Divinity School owns in Cambridge have caused some confusion, particularly a story on the Curbed Boston website suggesting that the sale of the property had hit a “serious snag.” That isn’t the case. Indeed, the brokers with whom EDS is working have not yet circulated any offering materials regarding the Cambridge property that EDS will be offering to sell. Here is how the confusion occurred:

Civil Rights, Immigrant Rights, and the Church’s Prophetic Role

Throughout history people in the church have been called to a prophetic role—to use the lessons of faith and ethics to challenge unjust actions and decisions in the political realm. Ironically President Trump’s executive order on immigration has awakened us to a new and widespread call to prophetic challenges and prophetic action.

November 14: Update on Transitions at EDS

Dear Episcopal Divinity School community members:

From October 27 to 29, the EDS board of trustees met on campus in Cambridge. This was the first opportunity for the full board to meet face-to-face with Interim President Bill Nelsen, who joined EDS in September. He extended a gracious welcome to us on campus and at the deanery, and participated fully in our meetings. We are grateful for President Nelsen’s warm and steady leadership during this year of transition.
