EDS is pleased to announce that the Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Mae Magill (Liz) '02 will be joining the staff as our new Coordinator of Community Life beginning on August 11, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep connection to our community.
Liz is an alum of EDS and was the Program Manager for Life Long Learning from 2006 through 2014, when EDS was in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is an author, pastor, and workshop leader whose work emphasizes lay leadership and the church's role as a vital resource for its local community. She is the author of Five Loaves, Two Fish, Twelve Volunteers: Growing a Relational Food Ministry (2020) and the upcoming When Did We See You? A Lenten Exploration of Poverty & Wealth (2026). She holds an MDiv from Episcopal Divinity School and a DMin from Brite Divinity School. She also provides consulting for congregations, dioceses, and other organizations that want to find vitality and be connected to God's mission regardless of their size.
As Coordinator of Community Life, Liz will be a key part of our team, focusing on community building, culture, and storytelling. Her primary responsibilities will include:
- Expanding and deepening our network of relationships among EDS alums and the wider community.
- Listening for and documenting stories that answer the question, “What makes EDS EDS?”
- Overseeing the regathering of historic artifacts and advising on how our history can inform our future strategy.
Liz’s love for EDS led her to describing this opportunity as “a dream role.” She said, “I'm excited to be working with people who want to liberate theological education and who are dedicated to a church that lives on the margins. It takes a community to change the world.
