Michael Looney is a candidate for Holy Orders, scheduled to graduate from the General Theological Seminary and be ordained as a priest in June 2026. In 2023, he launched a weekly Protestant worship service for a senior living community, followed by the founding of the Center for Spiritual Nourishment, an interfaith platform for sharing spiritual gifts, at Christ Church, Columbia, Maryland.
Since June 2025, Michael has focused his ministry on building intentional relationships with Indigenous peoples, working toward reconciliation and cultural reconstruction within the Church. -
Project Description:
This project aims to create a scalable model for reconciliation between The Episcopal Church and Indigenous communities. Central to this work is the refinement of the Guide for Lay Leaders to Work Towards Indigenous and The Episcopal Church Cultural Reconstruction. Additionally, Michael is collaborating with leaders to plan an International Peace and Reconciliation Summit in 2027, designed to foster emergent strategies for global Indigenous justice and relationship-building.
