The Rev. Dr. Wilda Gafney, lecturer
Dr. Gafney is Associate Professor of Hebrew and Hebrew Scripture at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her approach to teaching the Hebrew Scriptures includes emphasizing archaeology, comparative ancient Near Eastern literature, and the Dead Sea Scrolls. She is also an associate priest at the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas in Philadelphia. (Absalom Jones was the first rector at St. Thomas Church, the first African American Episcopal Church in the United States.) Gafney's lecture is entitled The Legacy of Absalom Jones in a Post-Colonial, Neo-Imperial World.

Dr. Weems, a noted scholar, minister and author is a nationally-renowned theologian and an ordained elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Noted for her contributions to theologies of gender and race, she delivers a lecture entitled Baking Cakes to the Queen of Heaven: God, Godesses, and Growing Up Black and Female in America.

Dr. Ellison, the William S. Bass Professor of Christian Ethics at Bangor Theological Seminary in Maine, is an ordained Presbyterian minister. He lectures widely on ethics relating to human sexuality, health care reform, and economic justice. He delivers a lecture, entitled Is Marriage a Must or a Bust? Enlarging the Justice Agenda.
