Partners in Ministry: Congregations Support EDS

Forming leaders in pastoral ministry is at the core of EDS’s mission as an Episcopal seminary. Unlike many other faith traditions, the Episcopal Church does not offer direct financial support to its seminaries. Instead, EDS relies on the financial support of congregational partners to help sustain our work.

By joining EDS as a Partner in Ministry, you will not only fulfill the resolution of the 75th General Convention of the Episcopal Church, which encourages congregations to continuously support theological education at an accredited seminary, you will also help to support EDS’s programs, its students, and its mission of preparing lay and ordained leaders for Christ’s Church and the world.

Please talk with your Vestry members about partnering with EDS in preparing leaders for the future of the Church by including the Episcopal Divinity School Annual Fund campaign as a line item in your parish’s budget this year.

EDS is a leader in the dialogue around pressing issues that affect our congregations every day. We could not do it without you, and we are grateful for the people within God’s church who provide significant resources for financial aid, faculty salaries, library acquisitions, and other student resources.

When your congregation chooses to support EDS’s mission of educating the next generation of ordained and lay leaders of the Episcopal Church, you are doing more than just making a gift—you are joining a theological community and all the opportunities for education and transformation it has to offer.

As a Partner in Ministry, your congregation can:

• Invite an EDS student to preach, lead worship, teach a class, facilitate a discussion, or meet the vestry—a great way of bringing the seminary to your congregation

• Enjoy early enrollment in Lifelong Learning at EDS programs and other EDS events

• Schedule private admissions tours and visiting days for members of your congregational community who are called to ministry

• Consult with EDS to plan events, classes, and workshops at your parish.
