Parking

Because of the limited number of spaces, EDS does not guarantee a parking space on campus for all students, employees, alumni/ae, or visitors. All members of the EDS community and visitors are encouraged to take the MBTA, or to use the Hubway bike sharing service. During times when there are no available parking spaces on campus, students, employees, or visitors may use one of the nearby parking garages in and around Harvard Square.

All students, employees, and visitors must display an EDS parking permit when parked on campus. Failure to do so will result in a ticket and a fine. Please remember that parking is being strictly enforced by Lesley University Public Safety. Those assigned to Lots EDS-SJR, P or Q should park only in the lot where the permit is assigned. If there is a problem with parking in your assigned lot Public Safety should be contacted at 617-349-8888 for assistance.

Student Parking

Students enrolled at EDS may request a free parking permit, which entitles them to park in any available legal space on campus. Please note that a parking permit does not guarantee or reserve a parking space on campus, and students may not park in tow zones or no parking areas at any time.

Enrolled students (and students within the Boston Theological Institute taking classes at EDS) may request a parking permit by emailing parking@eds.edu. Please include your name, your cell phone number, your institution if a BTI student, the make, model, year, and license plate number of your car. Please plan ahead, as it takes several days to obtain a permit.

When you obtain your parking permit, it will assign you to park in a specific lot (Saint John's Road, Lot P next to 101 Brattle Street, or Lot Q behind Reed Hall. Please only park in your assigned lot, or you may be ticketed or fined.

Visitor Parking

EDS charges a nominal fee for visitor parking on campus. Again, parking is not guaranteed, so requesting and recieving a visitor parking permit does not mean a space will be available to you on campus.

All visitors should park in the P Lot (located at 101 Brattle Street) and display a temporary parking pass on their dashboard. Guest passes for a day or part of a day are $10 each.

To apply for a temporary pass, please send the following information to parking@eds.edu at least two days prior to arriving on campus:

  • Name
  • Cell phone number
  • Car Details
    • License plate number and state
    • Make, model and color of car
  • Reason for vist: this includes day(s) and time(s)

After we receive and process this information, we will contact you about picking up your pass from Wright Hall.

Parking for EDS Employees

EDS employees may request a free parking permit which entitles them to park in any available legal space on campus. Please note that a parking permit does not guarantee or reserve a parking space on campus, and students may not park in tow zones or no parking areas at any time. All cars parked on the EDS campus during the school year must display an EDS parking permit no later than September 6 of the current school year.

To obtain a parking permit, an application must be completed and returned with the applicable fee to parking@eds.edu.

Parking Violations and Fines

Lesley & EDS permit holders parking in the wrong lot will receive a warning citation. Subsequent violations will include a $15 fine. The following outlines the fines and penalties for unauthorized/illegally parked vehicles on EDS and Lesley property:
  • No permit/not registered: $25.00
  • Parking in HP space without appropriate plates: $75.00
  • Blocking: $25.00
  • No Parking area: $15.00
  • Parked in a reserved space: $15.00
  • Parked in a guest space: $15.00

Vehicles without a valid permit or parked in restricted areas or impeding traffic, including blocking, are subject to citation and immediate towing at the owners expense. Lesley reserves the right to have an illegally parked vehicle towed from the property at the operator/owner's expense without warning. A third violation will result in an immediate tow. All fines must be paid within 21 days from the date of issue in order to avoid a late fee. Late charges of $15 will be added to any overdue fine.
