Parish Support

Seminaries of the Episcopal Church receive no financial support from the national church. At the 75th General Convention, the Episcopal Church reaffirmed that “each parish and mission…shall give annually at least 1% of its net disposable budgeted income to one or more of (the) accredited Episcopal seminaries.” This, of course, is what we at EDS hope for in terms of parish support. Please know that participation in supporting EDS at any level is welcomed and appreciated.

Please talk with your Vestry members about partnering with EDS in preparing leaders for the future of the Church by including the Episcopal Divinity School Annual Fund campaign as a line item in your parish’s budget this year.

EDS is a leader in the dialogue around pressing issues that affect our congregations every day. We could not do it without you, and we are grateful for the people within God’s church who provide significant resources for financial aid, faculty salaries, library acquisitions, and other student resources.

In addition to our extensive Field Education program, each year EDS offers to send students and faculty members to preach and speak about theological education at church forums throughout the country. Please mark Theological Education Sunday (the first Sunday in February) on your calendar and celebrate the seminaries of the church and our call to lifelong learning that sustains us for living and proclaiming God’s reign. Or invite a current student to preach at any time that suits your church’s schedule.

We welcome your inquiries with respect to Parish Giving to EDS and/or invitations to preach.
