CAMBRIDGE, MA, April 2, 2013—Episcopal Divinity School and Episcopal Service Corps, a network of young adult service programs across the United States, are pleased to announce a new tuition benefit partnership, providing qualified ESC volunteers and alumni/ae who are accepted to EDS, partial tuition scholarships to attend EDS.
This partnership highlights the visions and values of both organizations and will help bring idealistic and committed young leaders with a level of maturity, insight, and experience working in diverse settings to the EDS community.
“Every day Episcopal Service Corps makes a difference in communities throughout the United States. It trains young people for the important work of justice and peacemaking. At EDS, these values are at our core. We welcome the opportunity to help ESC alumni/ae attend EDS with this special partnership arrangement,” said The Very Rev. Katherine Hancock Ragsdale, president and dean of Episcopal Divinity School.
Episcopal Service Corps invites 20somethings to work for justice, live in Christian community, grow in leadership, and deepen their faith life in programs across the United States. Each participant is matched with an internship at a local non-profit or congregation at which to serve for 9-12 months. Some programs focus on environmental work, others specialize in community organizing or teaching, there is a wide range of service sites available. “The Episcopal Service Corps board, program directors, and staff are very excited about this new partnership with Episcopal Divinity School. EDS is the first seminary to offer a scholarship to Episcopal Service Corps alumni.
