Request for Proposals (RFP) – Instructor for EDS Course with Iona Collaborative

Introduction:
Episcopal Divinity School (EDS) is committed to fostering moral leadership through theological education, spiritual formation, and community transformation. For decades, EDS has provided cutting-edge, justice-focused theological education and formation for emerging leaders in The Episcopal Church. This RFP invites proposals from individuals to develop and teach an online, non-credit, continuing education course for the “Thriving in Bivocational Ministry” program of the Iona Collaborative at Seminary of the Southwest. This Spring 2025 course should focus on biblical interpretation as it pertains to a particular social justice issue (poverty, migration, food justice, and the environment are a few possible examples).

Project Overview:
In Spring 2025, EDS will partner with the Iona Collaborative to provide a unique course offering to their network of bi-vocational Episcopal ministers across the country. These non-credit continuing education courses are designed to resource part-time priests, deacons, and lay leaders for ongoing leadership in their local contexts. The course will have synchronous online meetings, 60-90 minutes each, for 10 weeks in the Spring 2025 semester. EDS is open to creative content approaches and desires collaboration with scholars who have demonstrated teaching experience.

Proposal Instructions:
Interested parties should submit a CV and one-page proposal, including a statement of interest and a course summary, to Emilee Walker-Cornetta at [email protected]. Proposals should be submitted by June 17, 2024. EDS and the Iona Collaborative will partner with the selected instructor to further refine their proposal in alignment with organizational goals.

Evaluation Criteria:
Priority will be given to proposals that present a clear, engaging summary of a course related to the Bible and social justice and to candidates who demonstrate significant teaching experience.

Educational requirements:
We are seeking proposals from PhDs or PhD candidates in the fields of biblical studies or theology.

Budget Information:
EDS will compensate the selected instructor $3000 to develop and teach the course.

Contact Information:
For inquiries and proposal submission, contact Emilee Walker-Cornetta at [email protected]. We look forward to reviewing your proposals.
